40 Weeks of Steeping your Mind in Truth

Updated: Jan 8

Steep your mind in truth
Steep your mind in truth

In Romans, we are told not to be conformed to the pattern of this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. We are also told in 1 Corinthians that we have the mind of Christ. But how do we renew our minds? And how do we access the mind of Christ?

By aligning our heart beliefs with truth, the truth of who God is and who we are in Christ. As we use the booklet Thought Conditioners to steep our minds in truth over the next 40 weeks, I expect something amazing to happen for all of us, that the truth will naturally begin to crowd out the lies. While we do want to recognize and take responsibility for the lies, we do not want that to be our focus. There’s a principle in quantum physics that says, where attention goes, energy flows. Essentially, whatever we focus on, we become. I want us to focus on truth because that’s what we want to become, filled with truth. As lies are revealed in the process, and they will be, we will be equipped and empowered to recognize them, take them captive and make them obedient to the truth we now know and believe.

Here’s the basic plan:

  1. Download the book and either print or save it on your device or both. Here’s a link to a free printable PDF version.  I tried looking for the paperback version of the book, but it's out of print. Although I did see it for $200 on Amazon, if anyone is interested.

  2. Peale suggests reading through the entire booklet quickly at one reading to get the over-all impact.

  3. I will post the scripture and brief message from the book in the Signal chat on Sunday to kick off each week.

  4. Sit in silence fixing your thoughts on Christ for a few moments and then pray something like this before each reading: Lord, what do I need to know? And what do I need to do? Pray expecting to hear from Him. Journal your thoughts and his answers.

  5. Throughout the week memorize the verse with the address. Meditate upon it and the brief message given with it. Consider and practice the simple techniques suggested.

  6. Share your thoughts in the chat.

  7. You may find that some of these verses greatly impact you. In that case, he suggests that you write it down and put it in a prominent place so that you can see it every day. This free printable PDF has a card for each of the 40 weeks with the scripture and passage from the book to help with this.

In addition to this, I plan to start each week with a fast. I will start Saturday evening and break my fast Sunday evening with my House Church. I invite you to join me in this in whatever capacity works for you. There are many ways to fast and fasting is a wonderful way to prepare our hearts and minds for deeper work and understanding.

While we are using Peale’s book as a guide, God is the one we are looking to for truth. Peale initially wrote this collection of scriptures as a way to help himself, to renew his own mind. You may not agree with all of his thoughts and insights or each others, and that’s ok. He was a human just like we are, imperfect and with his own filters. We will all “see” these scriptures through our own filters as well. This just demonstrates the breadth, length, height and depth of God's love for us to meet each of us exactly where we are, as we are with exactly what we need.

The Signal chat is where we will connect, share our thoughts, ask questions (there are no dumb ones), share challenges and struggles, celebrate victories, and most importantly encourage each other along the way.

I’m so excited that you are joining me on this journey! I look forward to seeing how steeping our minds in truth will change the way we live and love! Let the journey begin!

In this together,

Kristi
